What Sessions Are You Looking Forward to Attend at DOAG?

Are you attending DOAG this November in Nürnberg? Members of the FOEX team will be there as well, attending sessions and talking with other APEX enthusiasts and developers from the Oracle community.

If you’re going, you can find us at booth #240, right next to room Istanbul where all the APEX related sessions will be held. Stop by for one of our demos, a RedBull and some cool giveaways. Hope to see you there!

In the meantime, we wanted to preview a few sessions that we’re excited to attend. With over 400 sessions packed in just 3 days it can be quite a challenge to cover everything you might want to at DOAG, so here are our top picks:

What: With the release of APEX 5 developers and managers alike started asking questions about when should they start migrating their applications, what are the benefits that would justify such a decision, and of course, what are the costs and risks they should expect?

Perhaps you’re asking yourself these questions right now, or you’re just wondering if the Universal Theme can migrate your existing applications. This session hosted by Tobias Arnhold promises to deliver the answers you are looking for and provide a structured approach on how you can upgrade.

SQL Model Clause: A Gentle Introduction

When: Thursday, 19th of November 2015, between 09:00 AM – 09:45 AM

Where: Room St. Petersburg

What: Many database applications, both in business and technical fields, require calculations which are difficult to build in SQL. Back in 2003, when Oracle introduced Database 10g, it enabled such calculations with the SQL Model Clause. To quote Alex Nuijten the host of this session: “the syntax can be quite daunting”. He will give you an overview of the complex syntax of the Model Clause and highlight some real life examples where this functionality can be of great value.

What: D3.js is a JavaScript library which enables the efficient manipulation of documents based on data. The free visualization framework has gained popularity among developers in the last couple of years and Carsten Czarski’s session aims to highlight the incredible opportunities it opens when it comes to charts and visualizations.

With a brief introduction of the technology and seeing some examples of how it can be used, businesses can then easily take the next step and implement it in other areas.

This list is by no means intended to be exhaustive, there are even more sessions of interest which are at least as good as the ones mentioned. But for those of you active within the APEX community it might serve as a good starting point for planning your schedule at DOAG.
